Casey
was purchased as a Sister for "Wally" Here's the latest......
Certain stubby little dogs had a big afternoon at the 15th Annual Bark
Around the Park yesterday. First, they entered a contest where
they paid $1 each and got to jump into a wading pool and pick up a tennis
ball. Each ball had a mark that corresponded with a prize. Wally
leapt in first and then promptly ignored the balls. While he was still
standing in the pool, Casey jumped in part way and began pursuing an
innocent looking yellow tennis ball. She would not be distracted from
that individual ball, it was the only one she wanted and she would have it,
by hook or by crook. It was another example of her ball
obsession. We wondered why the girls running the booth were
getting excited. They kept saying, "she's gonna get it!
She's gonna get it!" Finally, Casey pinned the ball against
the pool wall and pulled it out by the fibers. What
we found out was that the girls running the booth knew that Casey was
fixated on the Jackpot Ball. So her efforts paid off and she won the
jackpot which consisted of a gift bag full of goodies - soft sided frisbee,
two bandannas, a squeaky toy, a new collar and some memo pads!
Wow!
Then, Wally and Casey were entered in the coolest trick contest.
While we were warming them up on their simultaneous tandem 'round,
round, round, down' trick, a cameraman from News Channel 14 filmed
them. They are such hams that they did the trick and then adorably
smiled at the camera. Finally the moment arrived. There were
about 6 other contestants. Most of the tricks were cute, but the dogs
got distracted. Meanwhile, our little hams ran through their
trick quite nicely. We wondered if they would win or if it would
be the greyhound. Much to our surprise, we heard their names announced
over the intercom and they were the WINNERS! This time they won a
squeaky toy, a free night at the PetsMart Hotel, and a free nail trim.
After the award, we heard another member of the news crew asking the
camera man if he got a shot of Wally and Casey's trick, and of course he
said he had. We wondered if they would get to be on TV, and wonder of
all wonders, their simulataneous three rotations and down was filmed in full
and broadcast on TV! Luckily, they are not aware that this is
the case so they will not get huge egos and demand an agent.
So it was a big weekend here in Raleigh for the corgi crew. How are
things with you? New litter on the way soon, right?
We'll all be waiting to 'hear' the big news on the website!
